Miles for Smiles 5K benefiting Camp Twin Lakes

As we gear up for our second annual Miles for Smiles 5K Walk/Run on September 20th, we are reminded of exactly why we lace up our shoes. Our community believes in the power of coming together to create real and positive change. This year, every step we take and every dollar we raise will directly support Camp Twin Lakes, a remarkable organization providing fully adaptive camp experiences for children facing serious life challenges.

To truly understand the impact of your support, we want to introduce you to an incredible 11-year-old named Harrison.

Meet Harrison

Harrison is a massive Georgia Bulldogs fan with a bright and resilient spirit. Because of his limb differences, he relies on a power chair and the loving support of his mother, Tara, to navigate his daily routine. Moving through a world built for others brings unique daily hurdles, but for one week every summer, those challenges completely fade into the background.

A Place to Just Be a Kid

Harrison attends Camp No Limb-itations, which is a specialized program at Camp Twin Lakes designed specifically for children living with amputations and limb deficiencies. He counts down the days all year long for this single week because the entire camp environment is fully adapted to his needs. Surrounded by peers who share similar experiences, the focus shifts completely away from his limitations, so he gets the chance to simply be a kid. He is empowered to play, explore, and build lasting friendships in a place where he truly belongs.

The Power of Collective Impact

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Harrison and Tara will be joining us as special guest speakers at the Miles for Smiles 5K. Hearing his story firsthand is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we pool our resources and our hearts.

By participating in this event, you are directly funding these life-changing camp experiences. Your support helps provide the specialized equipment, medical oversight, and intentionally designed programming that allows children like Harrison to trade isolation for joyful belonging. This shared commitment to community improvement is exactly what we strive to achieve at the HRA Foundation.
